Get busy with your best poetry and short stories for the Friends of Doveton Library Young Writers’ Short Story and Poetry Competition. Enter our competition and be in with the chance of winning some fantastic prizes. Winners will be presented at Doveton Library on Tuesday 26th October 2021 (or online, subject to COVID-19 restrictions) where we will also welcome special guest author, Meredith Costain.
Short Stories
Age 8-11: 50-250 Words Long
Age 12-15: 250-750 Words Long
Poetry
Age 8-11 – Up to 20 Lines
Age 12-15 – Up to 40 Lines
Prizes
Age 8-11, both categories
Three equal prizes of $30 in both categories
Age 12-15, both categories
1st prize $50, 2nd prize $40, 3rd prize $30
Opening and closing dates
Competition opens Monday 2 August 2021 at 9am
Competition closes Saturday 2 October 2021 at 5pm
Winners
Winners will be notified via telephone on Tuesday 19 October 2021.
Winners will be presented at Doveton Library on Tuesday 26th October 2021 or online subject to COVID-19 restrictions.
