Young Writers Short Story and Poetry Competition 2020

Get busy with your best poetry and short stories for the Friends of Doveton Library Young Writers’ Short Story and Poetry Competition.

Entries close at 5pm on Saturday 3rd of October and can only be submitted online (via the form below) at the moment.  All branches are currently closed.

Short Stories

Age 8-11: 50-250 Words Long
Age 12-15: 250-750 Words Long

Poetry

Age 8-11 – Up to 20 Lines
Age 12-15 – Up to 40 Lines

Prizes

Age 8-11, both categories
Three equal prizes of $30 in both categories

Age 12-15, both categories
1st prize $50, 2nd prize $40, 3rd prize $30

Opening and closing dates

Competition opens Monday 29th June 2020 at 9am
Competition ends Saturday 3rd October 2020 at 5pm

Winners

Winners will be notified via telephone on Tuesday 20th October 2020.
Winners will be presented at Doveton Library on Tuesday 27th October 2020 subject to COVID-19 restrictions.
