Connected Libraries have many online resources to support early learning, including Storybox Library, Literacy Planet, BusyThings and Tumblebooks. We have also sourced a number of other online resources that might be useful:

First 5 Forever (State Library Queensland)

A statewide program providing strong early literacy foundations for all Queensland children aged 0-5 years. Includes lots of tips for parents and carers to make the most of their child’s first 5 years.

Storyline Online

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s award-winning children’s literacy website, Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Readers include Viola Davis, Chris Pine, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Costner, and dozens more. 

Little Yarns

Little Yarns is a co-listening podcast series for pre-schoolers. Ideal for families listening together at home or as a listening resource in early learning centres. Little Yarns explores the diverse languages and stories of Indigenous Australia. 

ABC Kids

ABC Kids listen is a dedicated radio station and on demand app for kids and their grown-ups, brought to you by the ABC.  They provide children with music for dancing, stories for relaxing, and soothing soundtracks for sleeping. They also have a range of Podcasts to stimulate curiosity, fire imaginations and foster good listening.   Each program is designed to mirror the ebb and flow of a child’s day and be the perfect companion for playful days and peaceful nights. 

Auslan Storybooks

Here you will see “books” of stories – in Auslan. Deaf and hearing people of all ages who use Auslan can enjoy a wide range of stories. May it be a fantasy story, a true story or a science-fiction story. Enjoy a short story or a long story divided by chapters just like a written novel. 

Rainbow Trail Australia

Are you enjoying spotting Rainbows around your neighbourhood or creating Rainbows at home? Check out this, print it off and enjoy completing it with your little ones. It’s created by our very own member – Gracie Scanlon who is just 4 years old!
