Free educational fun for primary schools and kindergartens.

Education Programs

The following 45 to 60 minute sessions are offered free of charge:

Storytime

Appeals to children in pre-school and lower primary school years.  Arrange a session for your student group today!

Library Tours

For children in the middle to upper primary school years.  Your session may include a story, a short book talk and a guided tour of the library highlighting parts of the collection of most interest to your group.

Public Library Education

In-depth sessions can include how to use the computer catalogue, CD-Rom workstations, the reference collection, the Internet and online databases.

After School Book Clubs

Lively sessions where children are introduced to new authors, old favourites and alternatives to books by the most popular authors.

Browsing and Borrowing

The library has over 300,000 items in its collection, many of which are complement the school curriculum.  Why not establish an institutional membership This entitles the cardholder to a bulk loan of 30 items.  Your class will enjoy choosing from a wide range of picture books, fiction, non-fiction, magazines, videos, cassettes, DVDs, CDs and CD-Roms. Lists of relevant resources can be prepared on any topic.
