Writing the War: Events Guide

We hope you can join us for the special events associated with the Writing the War exhibition which runs from Thursday 26 October - Thursday 7 December, 2017. No bookings are required except as noted. 

Author Talk: Australian Victorian Cross Recipients - Michael Madden - Thursday 2 November, 11am

The multi-award winning writer and will talk about his current project - researching and writing a book based on the 100 Australian recipients of the Victoria Cross.

Hon Anthony Byrne, Federal member for Holt will launch the exhibition. Lambis Englezos will be the guest speaker and will talk about his quest to find the Lost Soldiers of Fromelles. 

How We Honoured Our Soldiers: Heather Arnold, Local History Librarian - Tuesday 14 November, 11am

Heather Arnold will look at the various ways communities honoured their soldiers once the War ended. 

Researching Your Military History: Saturday 18 November, 1.30 - 3pm

There is more to a service person than name, rank and serial number. Explore the many avenues available on the internet and in your library to gather the information you need to write their story.

Find Your "Soldier": Heather Arnold, Local History Librarian, Wed 22 - Fri 24, 11am - 2pm

Need help finding information about your military personnel ancestors? Drop into the Family History Room at Cranbourne Library any time between 11am to 2pm for assistance.

Lest We Forget: Marg Dennis - Wednesday 23 November, 2pm 

Music performance featuring songs from World War I and II and Vietnam War.

Author Talk: Ross McMullin - Tuesday 28 November, 7-8pm*

Join award winning historian and biographer Ross McMullin, and be moved and inspired as he brings the remarkable Major General Pompey Elliot back to life. Ross will be selling and signing his book on the night.
