There has been a lot of advertising about voting in the upcoming federal election on Saturday 2nd July, because of the changes to how we vote for the Senate (the white ballot paper).
This election, you can either: :
- vote above the line, but you must number at LEAST 6 boxes: 1 through 6 (previously you only put 1)
- vote below the line, but you need to number at LEAST 12 boxes: 1 through 12 (previously you had to number every box).
You still need to put numbers in all the boxes on the House of Representatives green ballot paper.
And you still need to VOTE - Voting is compulsory in Australia.
