500 Poppies for the 5000 Poppies Project

5000 poppies projectAs part of the Anzac Commemoration, the 5000 Poppies project will be "planting a field of more than 5000 poppies in Federation Square Melbourne, as a stunning visual tribute to Australian servicemen and women for more than a century of service in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

Cranbourne Library staff are calling on all crafters to participate in this meaningful and heartfelt project. You can down load free poppy patterns or pop into the Cranbourne Library and pick up a free knit or crochet pattern. All completed poppies can be returned to the Cranbourne Library where they will go into a special display cabinet.

Our aim is to get 500 poppies but we're hoping for many more!

All poppies will be taken to Federation Square in early April 2015 so they can be part of the tribute.

Happy crafting and we look forward to seeing your completed poppies!
