All Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation branches and the Mobile Library have been nominated in Australia’s Favourite Library Competition.
The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) has nominated 195 libraries across Australia to be voted the country’s ‘favourite’, and Casey-Cardinia’s Cardinia Mobile Library, Cranbourne Library, Doveton Library, Emerald Library, Endeavour Hills Library, Hampton Park Library, Narre Warren Library and Pakenham Library have been recognised for their engagement and services for the local community.
The winner of the competition will be announced on Library and Information Week, starting 19 May 2014.
“Libraries aren’t just about books anymore; they’re an essential place where members can access information, education and culture, adding to the community’s sense of engagement. We aim to provide the most accessible and useful resources to our community everyday”, says CEO, Peter Carter.
Just last year 1,464 students in the Casey-Cardinia community used the library’s free online study centre ‘yourtutor’, which is available across all Casey-Cardinia Libraries, where members get one-to-one access to expert tutors for all their homework questions and study problems.
Helping not only local students, Cardinia Mobile Library, Cranbourne Library, Doveton Library, Emerald Library, Endeavour Hills Library, Hampton Park Library, Narre Warren Library and Pakenham Library also offer lifelong learning opportunities, seminars, exhibitions and author talks, and a wealth of digital resources on their website.
Library users can vote by an online poll at http://www.alia.org.au/ausfavlibvote.
Voting will close on 22 April 2014.
