Membership is FREE and open to everyone, no matter where you live, work or study. You can join at any library, just:
- come to any library within Casey-Cardinia Library Service and
- present some identification showing name and current address, such as driver's licence, pension card, utilities bill, rates notice, bank statement. A parent or guarantor is required to complete and sign the membership application, agreeing to all conditions of use, for any members under 18 years of age, as well as present identification.
HOWEVER: If you have a library card from a library in the Swift Library Consortium, you can use that card to borrow at our libraries - you do not need to get a separate Casey-Cardinia Library card. Casey-Cardinia branches are Swift One Card Libraries.
Online membership is temporary (lasting three months) and allows you to join the library and place holds online. It does NOT give access to the library's subscription online resources or allow you to borrow or use library computers.
To continue your membership and get full access to borrowing, library computers and online resources, you must update your online membership to a library card, by visiting the library with proof of your name and current address (eg. Licence, bank statement etc.) and accepting the Conditions of Use.
HOWEVER: If you have a library card from a library in the Swift Library Consortium, you can use that card to borrow and place holds at our libraries. Casey-Cardinia branches are Swift One Card Libraries.
If under the age of 18, a parent's or guardian's signature is required, with their proof of address.
Organisational Membership is available to organisations such as pre-schools, primary or secondary schools, child-care centres. Conditions vary slightly from individual memberships. See form for details.

It is important that items are returned to the library on time, so that other members are able to enjoy them. Avoid overdue items and fines the easy way with our Almost Due courtesy email or SMS reminders! If you return your items late, an overdue fine of 20 cents per item per day will apply (with the exception of junior memberships, where the fine of 10 cents per item per day will apply.)
You can borrow or return material at any of the Casey-Cardinia Library libraries. We also have after-hours return chutes at each library. (Separate returns chutes for audio-visual items are provided at some libraries.)
If you have library items from a different library, but one that is in the Swift Library Consortium, you can return them at our libraries. Casey-Cardinia branches are Swift One Card Libraries.
Downloaded items do not need to be returned. e-Magazines and e-Music are yours to keep, e-audiobooks and e-books expire.
You can opt in to keep an online log of the items you have borrowed previously. Check out the instructions on how to set up and use Patron History.
