Holds

You can reserve any item in the Casey-Cardinia Library collection or in the collections of our partner libraries in the Swift consortium. There is no charge for this service. You will be notified when it’s ready for you to collect, either by mail, email or SMS. If you would like to change the way we notify you, send an email with your name and membership number (together with the change required) to information@cclc.vic.gov.au. Holds can be placed in person or by phone to your nearest library, or on the internet via our online catalogue.

Renewals

If you want to keep a book or another item past it's due date, you can always contact your nearest library to renew your loan, as long as they are not in demand or overdue. Items can be renewed once only.  Alternatively you can also renew items online, via our online catalogue.

Inter-library Loans

Inter-library loan is a service that provides items for our members that we do not have in our own libraries or in the Swift consortium. All requests are managed by our Inter-library loans officer who negotiates with other library services to borrow the requested item. We may decide to purchase an item if it is in accordance withour Collection Development policy. Other public libraries will generally NOT lend items that are under 12 months old. The general conditions for an Inter-Library loan are:

    *      Only CCLC members may request an Inter-library loan

    *      Some libraries charge a fee for loaning their books to us via inter-library loan. CCLC will not pursue these locations unless instructed by the client that they are willing to pay the fee.

    *      Inter-library loans are only available for books and journal articles (not audio-visual items).

    *      CCLC has no control over the response times of other lending libraries. Inter-library loans may take 4-6 weeks or longer to arrive.

    *      Loan period is 4 weeks and there are no renewals for inter-library loans

    *      In some circumstances, material lent may only be available for in-house use within a CCLC library

    *      Journal articles may be available through CCLC subscriptions - these are free for members. All other Journal articles will be requested through a university and will incur a document delivery fee of  $13.20, which is applied when the the article is ordered.
