Search Strategies
Before beginning an Internet search take a few moments to consider
your search strategy.
Do you want to search for sites from Australia or
overseas? See below for a list of Australia specific
search engines. What keywords will you use? Think about what you need
in the form of a question and then use those words, avoiding the
commonly used words. Look at your results for tips about other related
keywords to use or not to use (Some search engines allow NOT or - to be
used
to exclude some sites, eg in Google: use Wales -prince to exclude sites
about the Prince of Wales when you want information about the place).
Use apostrophes to search for a "phrase". If you would like to learn
more
about effective searching, read through some of the articles at Search Engine
Watch.
