Finding Information

Information Services

Each branch and mobile of the Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation has a specialist reference collection, which includes encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, specialist directories, etc, which are available for photocopying or referral use in the library.

Members of the public have free access to the resources held in all branch libraries, including access to the Internet and CD-Rom.

For holdings of any of our titles, check our Internet catalogue.

Staff are also trained to assist patrons with requests for information. At Narre Warren and Cranbourne branches, please ask the librarian at the Information Desk for assistance. At all other branches, ask at the Circulation Desk, where staff will assist you. Alternatively, you can use IRIS, CCLC's online interactive reference service.

Information Office

The Information Office is your gateway to a wealth of information resources from around the world. The Information Office is a specialist Information and Research service for the communities of the City of Casey and Shire of Cardinia in Melbourne's South East corridor.

If you have a question that cannot be satisfactorily answered by the resources at your branch library, the Information Office will take on the challenge! Branch staff will pass on your request or alternatively, you can use IRIS, CCLC's online interactive reference service.

Information Office staff are trained in the use of specialist online resources and have access to other resources, which will be investigated in pursuit of the answer to your query.

Electronic Resources

If you've exhausted the possibilities of the hard copy collection or require remote access, the library provides access to a number of electronic resources.

IRIS is an electronic form that allows you to submit an information request to our highly trained Librarians. Ask us anything you like (you'de be amazed at what we've been able to find out). Use it as a first resort if you have a quick question or as a last resort if you've been unsuccessful with your own search.

Hot topics is part of Victoria's Virtual Library. It is a collection of Internet links on topics that are currently in the news.

The website directory is a collection of links to Internet sites that have been collected by our librarians. They are grouped by topic and have been selected because they provide good quality information. Great for homework.

We subscribe to several databases on behalf of our members. These are large collections of information (often encyclopedias in electronic format) that will require a library membership number before access is allowed.

Dont forget the library catalogue for finding books and other library resources or our site map or site search if you're looking for something on this site.
