Collections are still important for public libraries in the age of technology - they simply exist in different formats and locations.....

Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation holds well over 365,000 physical items, as well as access to thousands more virtual resources.  These include:

Books - collections of non-fiction and fiction titles for adults, teens and children.  We also have books in Chinese (Endeavour Hills) and Italian (Cranbourne and Narre Warren).

Limits: unlimited

Loan period: 4 weeks

Magazines - collections of popular and specialist titles for adults, teens and children

We also hold magazines in Arabic, Chinese, French, Greek, Italian, Sinhalese and Spanish

Limits: unlimited

Loan period: 2 weeks

DVDs and Videos - feature films, television series, documentaries and how-tos for adults and children

Includes titles in Chinese and Italian.

Limits: 5

Loan period: 2 weeks

CDs - rock, pop, world, folk, country, classical, dance, soundtrack, jazz, blues, easy listening, inspirational and childrens titles

Includes titles in Chinese and Italian.

Limits: 15

Loan period: 2 weeks

CD-Roms - how tos, documentaries and educational titles for children and adults

Limits: unlimited

Loan period: 2 weeks

Audio books and Playaways - fiction and non-fiction titles for children, teens and adults, in tape, CD and MP3/CD format

Limits: unlimited

Loan period: 4 weeks

Basic English - books, kits and audio on learning and practicing English language skills

Limits: unlimited

Loan period: 4 weeks

Graphic novels - collection of classic comics and TV/movie related stories in graphic form

Limits: unlimited

Loan period: 4 weeks

Newspapers - each library gets the Age and Herald-Sun daily, the Australian and Financial Review also held at the larger libraries. Each library gets copies of their local newspapers. Articles from most of these are also available through our databases.

Databases - CCLC provides free access to online databases to library members on a wide variety of topics.

Family History - Birth, death and marriage records are available on CD-Rom at Cranbourne, Narre Warren and Pakenham. You can also access the online database Ancestry, using any of the internet computers at all of our branches. Also check out our Family History resources, which lists our CD-Rom titles and relevant magazines.

The Family History Room at Narre Warren Library is maintained by the Narre Warren and District Family History Group and is open to the public on Tuesdays (11am-3pm), Thursdays (7pm-9pm) and Saturdays (11am-3pm).
