Leader Newspapers, who publish local news in municipalities around Melbourne, have gone online!  Using a format, similar to that used by our popular database Press Display, Leader are now making a selection of their municipal newspapers available online, to read online in a virtual format.

Limited access to Pakenham Library stock

Pakenham Library will close at 6pm on Friday 14th August to move to its temporary home, whilst the new library is being built.

As a result, we will not have access to Pakenham Library stock between 14- 24th August and supplying items with an ‘On Shelf ‘Pakenham location will be delayed during this time. Access to stock during the week of August 24th may also be limited.

Cardinia Shire Council will soon begin construction of a new state-of-the-art Pakenham Library and Community Hall facility.  However, to make this possible, Pakenham Library will be moving.

Law Handbook Online

The Law Handbook, published annually by the Fitzroy Legal Service since 1987, is the "most comprehensive do-it-yourself guide to the law in Victoria". It is a title that we have in all our libraries, both as a reference source and as one to lend. Its easy to read content, makes the law that applies to Victorians in their everyday type situations, accessible and understandable.

Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation is pleased and proud to have entered into a partnership with the Melbourne Football Club on a literacy program for selected Year 4 and 5 students in the City of Casey.

Public libraries in Australia

Public libraries are an important part of local communities in Australia. A forthcoming publication - "Little book of public libraries", gives some good reasons why, including public libraries contribution to social inclusion, the economy, literacy, lifelong learning, families and communities.

New Pakenham Library Progress

Cardinia Shire has received $2.5 million in Federal funding to assist with the construction of a new public hall facility to replace the existing P.B. Ronald Hall building. This is in addition to Living Libraries funding of $495,000 to assist in the construction of the library facility itself. The new Pakenham Library will be built jointly with the new hall sharing the foyer and facilities. The new Library will be 1200sqm in area and will feature the latest technology as well as the traditional services.
