Paperboy is a wonderful book that I have just discovered. It has won a 'Newbery Honor' award  which is an American book award.
The hero of 'Paperboy' is an eleven year old boy. He can bowl a baseball faster than anyone else, but when it comes to speaking he can barely say a word without stuttering.
When he accepts a paper run he knows it will be difficult but he is determined......
He meets many new people along the way who open his eyes to the world around him.
'Paperboy' is set in America several decades ago, when African Americans were segregated from the white population.
This directly impacts our hero as he has a close and caring relationship with his African American housekeeper.
Very enjoyable reading.

Timmy Failure-We Meet Again

If you haven't read any Timmy Failure books by Stephan Pastis you must.
Do it now! Do not wait!
In 'Timmy Failure We Meet Again' Timmy and Total are up to their old tricks.
There is mayhem, confusion and lots of laughs as Timmy continues with his detective business, assisted by the ever talented Total (who happens to be a polar bear) by his side.
His latest adventures involve a gigantic four-ton chihuahua that lives at the top of some trees, a praying mantis, and an unexpected kiss in the forest.
The illustrations are every bit as good as the story and it is clear that Timmy hasn't altered a bit-still wearing the sideways scarf and staring out of the book with an intense, unsettling gaze.
Five stars!

The Case of the Bogus Detective

At last! Another book in the PK Pinkerton mysteries by Caroline Lawrence.
Sadly, this book appears to be the last in this action packed western adventure series.

As usual, our heroine has found herself in a desperate situation, trapped in a mountain cave with her dying father and surrounded by grizzly bears.
'PK' ducks and weaves, going from highly dangerous situation to the next.

You will find excitement and adventure, humour and sadness as PK and her loyal work partner, Ping, go about their Private Eye business.

This is an addictive and enjoyable series.

Not to be missed!
