Institutional Membership

An institutional membership allows an authorised person at a particular institution, borrowing rights on behalf of that institution.  The authorised user is not personally responsbile for any items that are borrowed: this includes payment for items lost or damaged and overdue fines.  For this reason the officer in charge of the institution must sign the form and accept responsibility for items borrowed by the authorised user.  An institutional membership is valid for the current calendar year.

An institution is an establised organisation, organised for a certain purpose.  Most insitutes joining the library would be those dedicated to education, public service or culture.  Examples include: pre-schools, schools and child-care centres.

To join as an institutional member, you must fill in an institutional membership application and have it signed by the Officer in Charge and stamped with the Instituition stamp.  This form must be returned to any library branch within Casey-Cardinia Library Service, where a membership card will be made up for the Instutution, care of the authorised user.

Institutional members may borrow up to 30 items.  The loan period is 4 weeks and overdue fines apply for items returned late.  The institution is responsible for any items that are not returned to the library, or are lost.  Due to copyright restrictions, institutional members can not borrow videos or DVDs.
