Community Profile

Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation provides public library services through eight service points in Victoria's southeastern municipalities of Casey and Cardinia Shire. Our network of libraries are located in Cranbourne, Doveton, Emerald, Endeavour Hills, Hampton Park, Narre Warren and Pakenham, with a mobile library providing weekly service to Beaconsfield, Bunyip, Cockatoo, Garfield, Gembrook, Koo Wee Rup, Lang Lang, Maryknoll, Tynong and Upper Beaconsfield.

The City of Casey covers 396 sq. km and is exhibiting the largest growth numbers in Victoria. Cardinia Shire spreads over 1,283 sq. km. With a combined population of  over 272,075 (ABS Census 2006) consistent population growth is a feature of our market, increasing 4.57% across the region over the year and predicted to double within the next 20 years.

We believe our slogan — Imagine, Explore, Understand — encapsulates our role in the community and and encourages creativity, self-discovery and life-long learning, the hallmarks which underpin our dynamic service. We are committed to developing our libraries as centres of community activity, a place where all people can meet to exchange ideas and conversation in a free and tolerant environment.

We are proud to offer innovative, creative and entertaining services for children and adults of all ages through the provision of a comprehensive, well-balanced and growing collection of books in large and regular print; talking books and picture books; videos, DVDs, CDs and CD ROMs; magazines and electronic databases. Our Chinese and Italian collections are growing, as is access to other language materials.

Throughout the year patrons have enjoyed Storytimes, school holiday programs, Book Talks, Music Sundays, seminars, author events and children's entertainment, together with our quality information  service, home library service for the housebound, and access to our comprehensive local history archive.
